About

Can Çavuş

A football lawyer with 12 years of legal experience, the last 7 devoted exclusively to football law. I represent professional players before FIFA tribunals and the Court of Arbitration for Sport in matters spanning Europe, South America, and Turkey.

Every matter I handle carries a cross-border element — the jurisdictional foundation for proceedings before FIFA and CAS. I do not advise on purely domestic disputes.

Fluent in four languages, I work directly with clients in their native tongue — without intermediaries, across every stage of a dispute or negotiation.

Services

What I do

All mandates involve a cross-border element — the prerequisite for jurisdiction before FIFA and CAS.

01

FIFA & CAS Representation

Representation before the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber, FIFA Players’ Status Chamber, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Claims include unpaid salaries, wrongful contract termination, and workplace misconduct.

02

Contract Advisory

Legal review and negotiation of employment contracts and mutual termination agreements. Full analysis of salary structures, signing fees, performance bonuses, and release clauses before execution.

03

Notices & Negotiation

Drafting and issuing formal notices to clubs on behalf of players. Strategic legal support throughout salary negotiations and transfer discussions to protect the player’s position at every stage.

Jurisdiction

Cross-border
matters only

FIFA and CAS jurisdiction arises from the international nature of a dispute — a player and club from different countries, or a cross-border transfer. Every mandate I accept reflects this.

I do not advise on purely domestic disputes. This focus ensures that every client receives counsel built on genuine expertise in international football law — not a generalised legal practice that occasionally encounters it.

Process

How I work

From the first message to final resolution — a clear, structured process with no surprises. You will always know where your matter stands and what comes next.

01

Initial consultation

A confidential conversation to understand your situation. No obligation, no fee. I assess whether your matter falls within FIFA or CAS jurisdiction before anything else.

02

Case assessment & strategy

I review all relevant documents — contracts, notices, correspondence — and present a clear legal strategy with realistic outcomes and timelines.

03

Representation & action

I handle all filings, correspondence, and proceedings on your behalf — before FIFA tribunals or CAS — keeping you informed at every stage in your language.

04

Resolution

Whether through settlement or tribunal decision, I pursue the best possible outcome and ensure enforcement of any award in the relevant jurisdiction.
